2014 is underway and the spring wedding season is here. And your favorite Raleigh catering company has some advice for brides. Enjoy the read!
Each year, new brides want to know the hottest colors, patterns, styles, the most innovative food and best themes to create the wedding of their dreams. What’s hot and what’s not is an important part of the planning, and we want to ensure that your 2014 wedding is a big hit. Catering By Design, wedding caterers in Raleigh, NC, has put together this series of the most important wedding trends for 2014.
2014 Colors: Purple, Pinks and Metallic Colors are all hot this year. Whether it’s your wedding dress, bridesmaids’ dresses, décor or flowers…these hues seem to be setting the trends for this wedding season. Pantone just announced the Color of the Year for 2014, and it’s Radiant Orchid – a pretty pinky-purple that is a beautiful hue for all your décor needs. Also expect to see lots of gold and silver. Think gold mercury-glass vases and gold trellis pattern table linens. The same goes for glitter as it makes a great accent on menus, escort cards and guest books.
Vintage. Art Deco and other 1920’s era themes are really big this year and will complete your Great Gatsby style formal wedding and reception. Photography is also seeing this trend with couples asking for a vintage feel and aesthetic. That can mean using vintage cameras, such as an old Polaroid, in addition to their state-of-the-art digital cameras or by adding vintage post processing effects or album design elements.
The Patterns. Chevron prints were big last year but are out for 2014. New, softer patterns are in! Lattice and trellis patterns and prints including floral and stripes are the new chevron.
The Flowers. Tree peonies and Dahlias are both more popular than ever. These multi-pedaled flowers are soft, elegant, and pair perfectly with the colors of the year.
The Venues. 2014 is all about nontraditional and unconventional. Locations such as warehouses, rooftops, art galleries and breweries are all trendy. The more unique the better. Going nontraditional can be budget friendly as well as these types of venues can be more affordable.
On the menu. As a Raleigh Caterer, this is one of the biggest reception questions: Buffet or plated dinner?
How about neither? A popular trend this year is interactive food stations.
Raleigh Catering Super Tip: Foods like mac-and-cheese or sliders, and choose-your-own toppings are all the rage. Build your own drink stations are also trendy. Think of build your own mimosas.
