Chris and Kathryn’s love story was written in the stars. The two, who met while working at NASA in Virginia, got to know each other when Kathryn struck up a conversation with Chris about Duke basketball (Chris had a crush from day one!). Kathryn had received a job offer in Portland and asked Chris to dinner to tell him the news in person. It was their first date and, as a slight introvert, Chris was secretly relieved that Kathryn had asked him out. Four months after their first date, Kathryn moved to Portland and she and Chris started a long-distance relationship. Ten months after the move, Chris landed a job in Portland and packed his things to be with her. Two years later, while on an annual vacation to the Outer Banks with Kathryn’s family, Chris proposed while on a walk back from the beach! Kathryn said “yes,” but only after making sure Chris had asked her parents first (he had!).
Kathryn and Chris’ stunning downtown Raleigh wedding started with the girls getting ready at The Glass Box, a gorgeous space perfect for wedding days. A first look with Kathryn and her dad before the ceremony was definitely a tear jerker! Kathryn looked stunning in her lace gown that paired perfectly with her pretty ‘do by Wedding Hair by Liz.
Their ceremony took place at All Saints Chapel, the “prettiest chapel in the south,” and the happiest of tears were shed as Kathryn and Chris exchanged personal, handwritten vows. After the ceremony, the couple and wedding party took full advantage of downtown Raleigh with stops for portraits by Visual Rituals and with a congratulatory round at Coglin’s before joining the reception.
Kathryn and Chris’ beautiful reception was held at The Stockroom at 230. The night was full of fall florals, romantic candlelight and rustic accents. Market lighting added a whimsical feel to the industrial space. Catering by Design created a fabulous meal that was followed with heartfelt toasts before it was time to hit the dance floor! The newlyweds had the best time dancing the night away with friends and family and their whole day was captured on film by Carolina Wedding Films, who perfectly told Kathryn and Chris’ story.
“We never wanted to forget the moment that we saw each other for the first time on wedding day,” they said. “[That’s why we hired Carolina Wedding Films.] This was the most important detail of our day and something we had talked about since the day we got engaged.”
The day was made complete with a sparkler exit and one last wedding day kiss before Kathryn and Chris headed off as the new Mr. and Mrs. Lynn!
Congratulations, Kathryn and Chris!
