As a caterer, we always receive questions from the bride about how to count guests. Some people say they’re coming and don’t, or the opposite may happen where you have an unexpected influx of guests who did not RSVP.
A general rule of thumb is an 70 percent acceptance rate, but realize this number may vary slightly. Keep in mind the time of year, holiday weekends, spring or summer vacations. And if you are planning a destination wedding, plan on 30-40%.
Be sure to tell your caterer and other vendors a guest count 3-days prior to the wedding weekend!
