About CISNA – A Government-Run Orphanage for Street Children (Boys).

Posted in: Catering in Raleigh NC

CISNA is an orphanage that Greg Lewis of Catering by Design visited on a mission trip to El Salvador. Located in San Salvador it houses about 120 boys.

Greg Lewis visited the orphanage on at least one of his mission trips earlier this year. “When I visited the orphanage, I looked right through those wires into the orphanage. As soon as we went in the kids were so hungry for attention, they were all over us wanting to play. You can’t help but want to do something more for them.”

Orphan Helpers staffs the CISNA orphanage and on their Website they write that CISNA stands for “Complejo de Integración Social para la Niñez y la Adolescencia” (Complex for the Social Integration of Children & Teenagers)

Here is the About CISNA blog for the organization.

Monthly Hot Meals for the Homeless in Moore Square

Posted in: Catering in Raleigh NC
Sponsors of The Church in the Woods Services Serve Food to the Homeless

The Church of the Woods offers services to the homeless throughout Wake County with food and support from local churches and communities.

The Raleigh, North Carolina based Church in the Woods has a mission to help the homeless in Raleigh, NC. It was their call to action to Triangle churches years back that led to our participating with Hope Chapel (Apex, NC) in cooking and donating hot food once a month in Moore Square.

For the past five years, on the 4th Saturday of the month, we at Catering by Design, have contributed hot meals that members of Hope Chapel served to homeless men and women in downtown Raleigh.

Back when we became part of it, very few churches were involved, and for years we could see and feel the difference we were making. Through the years since we began participating with Hope Chapel, many more communities have become involved, providing a much wider and stronger base of support.

Over the past year, the community at Hope Chapel began to feel it may be time to turn elsewhere in service work, and so, on the last Saturday in September, we prepared our last hot meal to give to the members of Hope Chapel to serve at Moore Square.

We’re grateful for the chance to have been of service, and especially would like to honor the Church in the Woods for their leadership in this important ministry.

For everything there is a time and a season. We know the immense value of helping others, and hope that all of us, especially as the season of giving approaches, will find ways that we can give back.

Catering by Design is still donating food weekly to the Church in the Woods, food that was not needed at the many events we cater each week.

To find out about helping the Church in the Woods, visit their How to Help page.

Hope Chapel has a Web site and a Facebook Page.

Catering by Design is located in Cary and also has a Facebook Page.
We are a full service caterer catering meals and events throughout the Triangle metropolitan area. Call (919) 481-2366 with your questions.

Catering Golf Events? How about the SAS Championship

Posted in: Corporate Catering

We’ve had the opportunity to cater a number of golf related events, most recently breakfast, lunch and a fancy dinner for a golf tournament at the 12 Oaks Golf Club for 12 Days at 12 Oaks.

Usually these events are in a club house close to the golf course.

But we also do outdoor catering for golf events.
Last year, we were delighted to be chosen to cater the hospitality suites at the SAS Championship. We set up our tent on the grass behind the grandstand, staged all the food and drinks there, and then rode in golf carts, carefully, stopping when the Quiet sign was up, careful about all the visitors, delivering the food and drinks to elegant hospitality suites on the Prestonwood Country Club Golf Course.

Catering at the hospitality suites at the 18th Hole at the SAS ChampionshipYou can imagine how pleased we were to find out we were the finalist to cater this year’s championship event on the 10th Anniversary! See our press release about it.

The Town of Holly Spring Annual Banquet was a formal affair with the mayor and town officials.

The Golf Tournament breakfast and lunch were casual, ham and biscuit breakfast and BBQ for lunch. The Tournament Reception was formal.

The Annual Partners’ event was also formal.

For the Open House we provided all the children’s rentals, including face painters.

The Realtor’s Event included a 4 piece Jazz Band which we arranged. Some highlights of the menu were:

The 12 Oaks Golf Club Member Appreciation Dinner was again formal. Here are some highlights from that menu:

The 12 Day event series was an indoor outdoor event, with many of the events served without kitchens or running water.

For Parties in Your Own Home – The Benefits of Catering

Posted in: Social Event Catering

Purple Iris, Lovely in Spring WeddingsWhen there’s a special event that you want to host in your own home, and you want to fully enjoy it, instead of running around taking care of all the details, consider hiring your favorite caterer.

Here’s a note from one of Catering by Design’s customers, saying so clearly, what the benefits are of using a caterer for that special event in your own home.

Dear Catering by Design:

I couldn’t let today go by without dropping you a note expressing my deepest thanks!

Last night really was amazing…from your food to the service, a few words come to mind: Elegant, Professional & Delicious!

Everything went off without a hitch. The Bride and Groom and their families were blown away.

Bottom line, I couldn’t have done it without you and your staff. Steve, Cheri & Albert were simply wonderful. I will definitely request them again at our future functions. I didn’t have to raise a finger. They wanted to please not only me, but everyone at the party. They did you proud!

Finally, I was able to enjoy an event at my home, without being totally dead by the time it was over.

After the hours they put in last night, I know Steve, Cheri and Albert can’t say the same…they worked so hard.

I enjoyed having this party so much, that there is no doubt we will do many more…for our personal and business needs. Rest assured I will ONLY use Catering By Design.

Regards,
Donna
